This fall has been a very productive one for our club and membership. We've been promoting our motto "Service Above Self" with a variety of activities that help and uplift our community:
- Moved one of our weekly meetings to the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen. Our club and membership payed it forward by donating our lunch proceeds and "happy bucks" to the Soul Kitchen, which feeds many families in the Toms River area.
- Donated shoes to the CASA of Ocean County shoe drive. They take the used shoes and get funds from the materials.
- Honored Pat Donaghue of the People's Pantry Relief Center at our Rotary District 7500 Community Volunteer Awards dinner. She is an angel in the Toms River community and we are so grateful for everything she has done.
- Participated in Jersey Shore MakerFest held at the Toms River Regional Schools. Several Rotary members showcased their vocations and hobbies to help kids and families use their imaginations using art and technology.
- Invited Toms River Mayor Thomas Kelaher to our lunch meeting, who brought us up to date on important issues in Toms River.
In addition, we raised money for the community with our annual 50/50 raffle, which supports over a dozen organizations that request our help. If you're interested in getting involved in our club, please email us at centraloceanrotary@gmail.com.
