On July 22, three members of the Toms River High School North track team came to speak about an upcoming fundraiser. Andy Tekriwal, Matt Dougherty and Joseph Kotran addressed the club about a charity event for Army Pfc. Alex Knapp. They are sponsoring a charity run on August 19, 2008 to raise money for the soldier who lost both of his legs when an IED detonated in Bagdad on March 14th.
The general outline of the track course will include a two loop 5K and a 1.6 asphalt walking path. Runners can take as many laps as they can as all money will go to the Knapp family to aid in payment of medical bills and rehabilitation. Members of the girls track team as well as others are slated to participate.
Alex's mother has created an online journal of her sons improvement. The address is www.caringbridge.org/visit/alexknapp1 For more information on the run email Anand "Andy" Tekriwal at Anandt33@aol.com
